Control & Measurement
The EUPP (Earl’s Universal PIC PCB) is a general purpose I/O system which has been designed to use most of the
features of a popular microchip micro-controller (the PIC16F877). The EUPP has not been designed with any specific
application in mind but has been created to be as flexible as possible by offering a large number of features and a
reasonable I/O count, while keeping cost as low as possible. This as been achieved by building the core features into
the main circuit board, while many of the specific I/O function have been moved to daughter boards. This allows in
many cases only the required I/O to be provided this saves space and cost as considerable amount of cost is spent in
providing isolation and switching hardware in I/O circuits. The EUPP design allows only the required I/O to be
provided.
Another cost saving feature are the displays provided within the EUPP system. While most PLC systems provide
displays these tend to be very expensive, the EUPP system provides a proprietary low cost LED display as well as
interfacing to standard LCD displays.
All PLC systems allow analogue inputs to be added, adding an analogue input block will generally cost more than the
basic processor unit. The standard EUPP system provides up to five analogue inputs (10 bits) although the exact
arrangement of analogue inputs will vary with application.
The EUPP is not a user configurable device, we will work with the customer to configure the EUPP system to meet
their requirements. We will then create a unique piece of code to meet the customers requirements written in C or
where required assembler.
